  33. eye-hand coordination?

  42. Bridge for Windows deals four random hands of Bridge,
  43. selects the best hand to be yours and the second best for North.
  44. As South you will open the bidding.  Bridge for Windows bids as
  45. North responding to your bidding as a normal partner would.

  47. During play, you play the declarer and dummy hands as North and
  48. South and Bridge for Windows plays the opposition as East-West
  49.

  52. opening bid.  Bridge for Windows will assist you in practicing
  53. your bidding such that a partner recognizes what you mean by

  67. before buying it.  If you try a Shareware program and continue
  68. using it, you are expected to register. Individual programs
  69. differ on details -- some request registration while others
  70. require it, some specify a maximum trial period. With

  72. using the software to an updated program and a printed manual.

  150.             Installating Bridge for Windows
  151.  
  152. To install Bridge for Windows, follow these steps:
  153.  
  154.   Before you can use Bridge for Windows you have to run the
  155. setup program from Windows so it will work properly on your
  156. computer. You cannot just copy the files from the Bridge for
  157. Windows disk to your hard disk. The files on the distribution
  158. disk are packed in a special way to save space.  The setup
  159. program unpacks those files and builds them on your working
  160. disk.
  161.   
  162.   Bridge for Windows installation will pre-install the Visual
  163. Basic runtime DLL on your system, if you do not already have a
  164. version.  Other runtime files will be installed in the
  165. appropriate directory.  Windows version stamping resources will
  166. be used to ascertain if a file should be copied to your
  167. computer.
  168.  
  169.   1. Make Windows' "Program Manager" the active window.
  170.  
  171.   2. From Windows' "Program Manager", select "File", then select
  172.     "Run".  This will open the "Run" dialog box.
  173.  
  174.   3. Place the copy of Bridge for Windows in your floppy drive.
  175.     Now, the dialog box needs for you to type in the command that
  176.     will run the Bridge for Windows installation program.
  177.  
  178.      * If your floppy disk goes in your Drive "A", type:
  179.               A:SETUP
  180.        Leave the "Run Minimized" box un-selected, and click the
  181.        "OK" command button.
  182.  
  183.      * If your floppy disk goes in your Drive "B", type:
  184.               B:SETUP
  185.        Leave the "Run Minimized" box un-selected, and click the
  186.       "OK" command button.
  187.  
  188.   4. Fill in the required information in the dialog box.
  189.  
  190.      * Installation will assume that installation will be performed
  191.        from the floppy drive designation you typed in the previous 
  192.        step before the word "setup".
  193.  
  194.      * It will ask you for the hard disk "Destination Drive and
  195.        Directory" designation on which you want it to install Bridge
  196.        for Windows.  It will suggest a directory named "C:\BRIDGE".
  197.  
  198.        If you want the Bridge for Windows program files
  199.        installed on a different drive or directory, just click
  200.        the pointer to the right of the characters you want to
  201.        change, backspace over the ones you want to erase, then
  202.        type in the new designation.

  208.      * It will automatically build a Bridge for Windows icon and
  209.        add it to "Program Manager".  Accept the "Yes" (already
  210.        selected by default) if you do want it to do this.
  211.        Select "No" if you do not.

  213.   5. Bridge for Windows Setup will unpack the necessary files
  214.      and place them into the proper directories.
  215.  
  216.   6. Bridge for Windows Setup will notify you when the
  217.      installation is completed.

  219. Bridge for Windows is installed and ready to use.  Double click
  220. the pointer on the Bridge for Windows icon and try it out!  This
  221. README.TXT and BRIDGE.WRI are also installed in the group for
  222. your browsing.

  282. or the files on your computer are out of date.

  364.                   DeInstalling Bridge for Windows
  365.  
  366. If the situation arises that you need to deinstall Bridge for 
  367. Windows, use the following procedures:
  368.  
  369.     Delete BRIDGE.EXE, BRIDGE.HLP, BRIDGE.WRI, and README.TXT
  370.     from the directory where the software was installed.  Then
  371.     remove the subdirectory.  The default subdirectory is
  372.     C:\BRIDGE.
  373.  
  374.     This deletion can be through FileManager in Windows or
  375.     using DOS commands:  
  376.         CD\BRIDGE 
  377.         ERASE *.* 
  378.         CD .. 
  379.         RD BRIDGE
  380.  
  381.     In windows, activate the program group where the Bridge program
  382.     is displayed.  The default is BRIDGE.  From Program Manager, 
  383.     Select File, Delete for each Program Item and then the Program
  384.     Group. This will remove Bridge from Windows.
  385.  
  386.     Before removing the DLL's used by Bridge for Windows, you must
  387.     ascertain that the DLL or VBX is not in use by any other program.
  388.  
  389.     The files, COMMDLG.DLL and VER.DLL are most probably on your 
  390.     system because Windows 3.1 installs these files.  
  391.     
  392.     DO NOT DELETE COMMDLG.DLL AND VER.DLL  
  393.     
  394.     Other files can be deleted once you determine that no other 
  395.     program needs the file.  MDICHILD.VBX, THREED.VBX are stored 
  396.     in the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM subdirectory.   VBRUN100.DLL is in the 
  397.     \WINDOWS subdirectory.  Using File Manager or DOS delete, these
  398.     files can be deleted.  If you delete a file and later find that 
  399.     it is still needed, Installing Bridge for Windows will also
  400.     install these files.
